MEN'S HEALTH

Men's Health Initiative of Hall County

Men's Health Fact Sheet                         Letter from Pastor Green

The Men’s Health Initiative is a community partnership of healthcare providers, non-profit agencies, faith-based organizations, and concerned individuals focused on promoting men’s health issues. While this collaborative effort is encouraging all men to learn how to eat healthy, be active, be tobacco free, get checked and be positive, it is especially targeting men that are under-served, un-insured and minority.

Wellness is a lifelong journey – a journey that lasts a lifetime. Alarming statistics show that men’s health is at great risk. On average, men die 6 years earlier than women and suffer higher mortality rates for the top 10 causes of death. It is important that men change their attitude toward health. Our goal is to increase knowledge of men’s health issues through Awareness, Education, Prevention, and Intervention. Through this initiative, we will champion the goals of the Men’s Health Network, a community collaboration that works toward:

  • Saving men's lives by reducing premature mortality of men and boys

  • Fostering health care education and services that encourage men of all ages to implement positive lifestyles for themselves and their families

  • Improving the physical and mental health of men so that they can live fuller and happier lives

  • Significantly reducing the cycles of violence and addiction that afflict so many men

  • Energizing government involvement in men's health activities so that existing government health networks can be utilized to increase the health and well-being of men and boys

  • Encouraging women to expand on their traditional role as the family's health care leader and activist for enhancement of health care services

Consequently, we have established a Men’s Health fund with the North Georgia Community Foundation that will be used to support existing organizations and individuals as they add Men’s Health as a distinct part of their missions.  This initiative’s goal is not to replace any efforts currently underway by any organization, but rather to assist, encourage and lend support as they implement or enhance their own Men’s Health programs.

A men’s health fund has been established at the North Georgia Community Foundation and funds raised will be used to support existing community organizations and groups to enhance or make men’s health a part of their mission. For more information call 770-535-7880. All donations are tax deductible and welcomed.

To donate please make checks payable to Men’s Health Fund and mail to:
