EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS -
Pandemic
Influenza
Pandemic Influenza -
is a virulent (powerful)
human flu that causes a global outbreak (or pandemic) of serious
illness. Because there is little natural immunity, the disease can
spread easily from person to person.
Because an influenza pandemic is a
potential threat, the 13 counties is District 2 Public Health have
developed county pandemic influenza plans. These plans are a
collaborative effort of representatives from local government,
schools, health care, public health, business, transportation,
faith-based organizations, media, civic/volunteer organizations, and
the general public.
