The information on this page was taken from the
Georgia's Health Alert Network (HAN) home page.
The Health Alert Network is part of the Georgia Department of Human
Resources, Division of Public Health, Bioterrorism Preparedness
Program. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
provides funding for Georgia's HAN as part of an effort to create a
national, integrated information and communications system for
health professionals.
The Health Alert Network supports:
-
Preparedness planning
-
Disease surveillance and epidemiologic investigation
-
Electronic laboratory test reporting
-
Emergency communications, and
-
Professional workforce training.
The Health Alert Network will aid in preparing health departments
for responding to bioterrorism incidents by supporting and offering
training and information. During an incident, the HAN will let
health care providers and emergency responders communicate quickly
and easily.
